Master Mentor Copy - J. Sorolla, Second Garden - Villa Sorolla

€450.00

The idea for a Master Mentor Copy emerged while studying historic garden paintings, especially those of Joaquin Sorrola a Spanish painter ( 1863 - 1923 ), who at his time was famous for his potraiture. The original of this artwork is painted in oil on linnen and much larger - 95 x 64 cm. I studied Sorollas technique while painting this small work without any digital help or projection devices. My main interest was to see if his amazing technique in oil could be somehow translated in watercolors.

While waiting for portrait sessions and strolling among his clients' exquisite gardens, Sorolla began painting parks. I immediately connected with his art since it was reminiscent of my own early work from the 2008s. Particularly those that depict iconic moments from Mallorquin gardens.

This work demonstrates Sorolla's extraordinary abstraction abilities as well as his passion for the natural world and all living things. Most likely, the figure in the middle is a replica of Pompeji, Italy's dancing faun.

High quality watercolors on 190 mg/m2 Hahnemühle Paper

Size: 21 x 29,7 cm, 8,3 x 11,7 inches

Original watercolor painting, pencil drawing and water soluble oil pastel on high quality paper.

Added at checkout as a fixed charge, shipping prices are dependent on national or EU delivery and include fees, packaging supplies, and labor. Since I don't ship in standard sizes, it's possible that the price for larger items will exceed the flat rate. An invoice will be sent to you if the total cost of your order exceeds what you paid at checkout; payment must be made before the ordered item is shipped. I appreciate your understanding.

*Please note that the color representation on computer monitors varies; therefore, the tone of your artwork and paper may alter somewhat from the image you see on screen. I try my best to depict colors faithfully. I work with the highest quality materials. However, bear in mind that both wood and paper are natural materials that will respond to moisture and temperature.
